Havana
Havana is the capital of Cuba and one of the largest cities in the caribbean. The famous oceanside boulevard of the Malecon winds its way around the bay of Havana. The old city "La Habana Vieja" was declared by UNESCO in 1982 to be a world cultural heritage centre. There are many museums, art galleries and tourist sites to visit. In the evening dine out at a restaurant in Old Havana and then drop into one of the many cabarets or go to the world famous Tropicana Nightclub. Every Sunday from noon in the area called Callejon de Hamel live rumba sessions are performed by leading Cuban bands. These events are very poular with the locals and can attract large crowds. A very attractive holiday option we would recommend, is to combine your stay in Varadero with a number of nights in Havana, a two centre holiday spending 3-4 days in Havana and then moving on to Varadero for a relaxing beach break.
